Ahhhh--this was a great sewing day for me. Yahoo! I spent a good portion of today in my sewing room. I had to take time out for laundry and fixing lunch, and making a dish to take for Easter dinner tomorrow, but I did get some uninterrupted stitching time. It felt soooooo good!
There was some definite progress made on the green jacket. The outside is put together. It has sleeves, shoulder pads and sleeve heads. I cut the lining and began sewing it. Now, I could probably win the "slowest sewer award", so for me, this is a real achievement!
I also had to take time to make shoulder pads. I never buy them anymore. I make mine from polyester fleece. I wrap them around a sleeve roll and shoot them with steam to shape them. Let them dry.
I'm deviating from the pattern, which I most always do. It doesn't call for shoulder pads, but I think I get a much nicer line with them. Sleeve heads are something I always insert when making a tailored jacket. There's a few other things that are different from the pattern. I'll list them all once the jacket is finished and I have a photo to post.
Tomorrow I'll be gone most of the day. Church in the morning and dinner in the afternoon. No sewing. But--next week, I think I have a couple of free days. I want to get this jacket finished for my Creative Clothing Club meeting at the end of this month. I always try to have something for "show and tell".
When this jacket is finished, I think I'll start on pants. I badly need to work up a pattern for pants and jeans. I was sorry I didn't join the jeans sew-along at PR. It wasn't at a good time for me, but I have read the posts, which are very interesting and informative.
Eat lots of chocolate bunnies and Peeps! Have a blessed holiday, however you celebrate it.
One Fine Day
