Info Post
I just read Debbie's post about her Hot Patterns Riveria Boulevard Jacket.  It looks terrific on her.
Nancy made one a few weeks ago, and hers looked great too.   I've had that pattern for a while, and after reading their reviews of the pattern, and finding some time--I have mine started.

The patterns calls for knits, but I'm making mine from this gray/black wool stripe fabric.  It's a brushed wool, loosely woven.  I bought it at a sewing meeting--3 yards for 50 cents.  My jacket will be lined  in a black print lining fabric I got off the grab table at another sewing meeting.  The only money I'll be out for it is buttons.  I am turning the stripes so that they run lengthwise on the lower bodice, and cross-wise on the upper bodice.  I also bought 3 yards of charcoal gray solid wool for 50 cents that will be slacks to go with the jacket.

Yesterday, I worked on the pattern, and cut and sewed a muslin.

I changed the pattern just a bit.  The sleeeves had a seam down the center.  I eliminated that seam, and the CB seam also. The stripe doesn't need to be broken up with seams.  I added a cuff at the sleeve hem. This is a boxy jacket that doesn't require a lot of fitting.   The Big Four pattern companies share one thing in common--and that is the chest/shoulder/neckline area of their patterns are very often large.  Not so with Hot Patterns.  I like their draft.

Today was very productive.  I cut out the jacket and fused the interfacing.  I am using Pro Weft Fusible that I ordered from Pam.  I like that interfacing.  It's light but firm enough for soft tailoring.  I may not get back to my sewing room this weekend, but have some time next week.

Earlier in the week, I made a stop at Jo's and bought several pieces of  cotton interlock for t-shirts.

When I find a block of time, I'll "whack and stack" some t-shirts so they're ready to sew.  I've made the same t-shirt from the same Stretch and Sew pattern so many times, I can do it in my sleep.  Making them isn't creative, but I like the way my Ts fit.  My t-shirt pattern is the first thing I made during the Ann Person S&S era, which really changed the way we were sewing at that time.  That was in the 70s.  I think I got my  money's worth out of that pattern!

I picked up these McCall patterns that were on sale.

It is soooooo cold in Michigan.  Brrrrr!  I live on an Island and my house has water on two sides.  It's very open here--no buildings to block the wind coming off the Bay.  The canals are glazed over with ice.  It was predicted we would have a mild winter.  So far, the weather forecasters are batting zero!

Stay warm everyone.  Enjoy your weekend.  Sew much.
